Alchemy Taste Organic Spirulina Powder (150g)

I bought this spirulina product on the recommendation of a staff member at Lifestyle Market on Douglas. The person recommended it because it's "local". The company is on Vancouver Island but there is nothing that indicates where the spirulina was harvested from. It could have been China; it could have been anywhere. The package also claims the product is "organic" but if you read the label closely, and explore the brand's website, there is nothing that indicates this product or any of their other products have been certified by any organization as organic. The website says "Alchemy Taste ingredients, along with Organic, Kosher, Gluten-Free, Non-GMO, Fair Trade, Non-irradiated, Raw & Full-Spectrum standards, are lab tested to ensure purity & potency." That statement sounds reassuring if you don't dig too deeply, but it's meaningless without more information and references to back it up. I believe this brand makes false claims and that Lifestyle Markets should do due diligence before recommending this product, or even carrying the brand.
