Habibi's Mediterranean Foods
In Arabic, Habibi means “my love, beloved, friend, or darling” — and that warmth is baked into everything Habibi’s Mediterranean Foods makes. Family-owned and Vancouver-based since 2008, Habibi’s has been crafting delicious, all-natural hummus, dips, and Mediterranean spreads using family recipes passed down from the kitchens of Lebanon.
From making their own tahini and boiling chickpeas in-house to peeling fresh garlic and using only extra virgin olive oil, every detail reflects a commitment to quality that you can taste. No chemical preservatives, no artificial additives — just wholesome, old-world recipes that have been nourishing families for centuries.
Our Family’s Story
Habibi’s began as a beloved Middle Eastern restaurant on West Broadway, Vancouver, known for its vegetarian and vegan dishes. When the restaurant closed its dining room, it continued producing hummus in a tiny space next door. In 2008, Abe Chaaban — whose family had journeyed from Lebanon through Iraq, the US, and finally to Vancouver in 1988 — saw an opportunity to bring Habibi’s to a wider audience. With the support of his mother Mona (a restaurant entrepreneur herself), his wife Sofia, and business partner Jeff Anderson, Abe built Habibi’s into the brand it is today: a staple in the community, now available to take home.
