Certified Organic Local Romaine Lettuce is harvested fresh from local farms in the Victoria, BC region — tall, upright heads with sturdy, dark green outer leaves, pale and tender inner leaves, and a satisfying crunch that holds up beautifully to dressings and toppings. Romaine is the classic Caesar salad lettuce for good reason: its firm ribs and crisp texture stay crunchy even when dressed, and its slightly bitter, robust flavour stands up to bold ingredients. Beyond Caesar salads, romaine is excellent grilled — halve lengthwise, brush with olive oil, and char on a hot grill for a smoky, caramelized side dish. Use whole leaves as sturdy wraps or taco shells, chop into grain bowls, or shred finely for slaws. The inner pale leaves are more tender and mild, ideal for lighter preparations. A natural source of Vitamin A, Vitamin K, folate, and Vitamin C.
