Hornby Island Pâté has one of the most charming origin stories in BC food: it began in 1982 as a side offering at the Cardboard House Bakery on Hornby Island. When the bakery needed a product to carry them through the quieter winter months, pâté — already a staple of their fresh goods selection and blessed with a longer shelf life — was the natural answer.
From Island Bakery to 60+ Stores
In 2004, Hornby Island Pâté made its retail debut at a local grocery store, where it was met with immediate enthusiasm. What began as a humble, simply packaged local product quickly became a much-loved fixture across Vancouver Island — and has since grown to be available in over 60 stores spanning 20 cities.
