Used in herbal medicine to help support cognitive function.
Besides ginkgo, this formula includes bacopa, an astonishingly effective herb that has been used as a brain tonic for almost 3000 years in traditional Ayurvedic medicine. Scientists in our own day have discovered that bacopa is a powerful, neuroprotective antioxidant, enhancing memory, learning, and concentration. While the medicinal herbs in this product share cognitive aspects, they also each bring their own individual strengths to the dynamic interaction or synergy of the whole formula. “Synergy” comes from the ancient Greek words that mean “working together with”. It’s a term that perfectly describes the way in which the herbal ingredients mesh with and complement one another, making the whole formula more than just the sum of its parts. Synergy” means that ginkgo influences and is influenced positively by the Chinese ginseng that occurs side by side with it in this formula. Recent research has in fact revealed that ginkgo in combination with Chinese ginseng results in a fusion of the two that outperforms either herb alone for improving mental function. The authors of one randomized controlled trial (RCT) that examined a ginseng-ginkgo combination reported that “the most striking (and unexpected) result was a marked and sustained improvement in [cognitive] performance following the Ginkgo-Ginseng combination.
