When the restaurant closed its dining room, it continued producing hummus in a tiny space next door. In 2008, Abe Chaaban — whose family had journeyed from Lebanon through Iraq, the US, and finally to Vancouver in 1988 — saw an opportunity to bring Habibi’s to a wider audience.
