Alpha Lipoic Acid

What is Alpha Lipoic Acid

Discovered in the 1930’s, alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is a vitamin-like nutrient that is an essential coenzyme required by the body for energy production.  As well, ALA is a powerful antioxidant working to help the body fight free radical damage (a cause of premature aging, cancer, heart disease and cataracts, among other ailments).  ALA is both fat-soluble and water soluble, and being a very small molecule, it easily crosses cell membranes where it can protect the DNA from damage.
